Our main goal is to stand beside helpless people who are facing death due to lack of medical treatment. In Bangladesh, more than 40 million people live in extreme poverty. According to research, around 22% of them die due to a lack of medical care or proper treatment. Even today, if you visit Dhaka Medical College Hospital or other government hospitals, you will see countless patients lying on the floors, many of whom cannot afford to buy the necessary medicines.

There is a common belief in our society that “all treatment in government hospitals is free,” but the reality is different. In reality, when a patient needs surgery, the family must purchase almost everything from outside the hospital, including medicines, injections, and surgical supplies. Not everyone has the ability to bear these expenses.

As a result, many people are forced to:

Borrow money with interest

Sell their rickshaw, van, or their last remaining possessions

These situations are so heartbreaking that they cannot truly be understood without witnessing them firsthand.

UHDP stands beside these very people. Alhamdulillah, through our efforts, an average of about three surgeries are completed every month. This organization primarily serves those who are in extreme hardship and have no one else to stand by them.

We receive the highest number of applications for burn patients, especially small children who are accidentally burned. Such appeals can never be turned away.

A burn patient usually needs to stay in the hospital for at least 20 days, and the total treatment cost amounts to approximately 40,000 BDT or more—an amount that many families simply cannot afford.
